WHAT WE'RE READING
We're trying something new here at Shrill Society: sharing with you what's in our 50 open tabs, what we're talking about at the studio, what's motivating us, and what's connecting us with you. For International Women's Day, Penguin Random House is opening Like A Woman: a London-based pop-up store only featuring female authors. We really love Penguin Random House here at Shrill Society (hint, hint... more to come). Have you heard about Emma González? She's one of the inspiring teen activists and survivors of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting who called BS on Trump, the NRA, and ineffective state leaders. Student activists hosted a "Lie-In" in front of the White House and are organizing March For Our Lives. March with them in DC or in one of their sister marches happening around the country. The Shrill Society crew all saw Black Panther last weekend and have all the feelings (like: will Hollywood produce more Afro Futurist stories *cough* Octavia Butler *cough*?) and got us thinking, will Storm finally get her own movie?
